The Impact of IT Operations Automation on the Morale, Productivity and Security Posture of IT Teams

A new survey commissioned by Tanium and conducted by PureProfile has unveiled the real-world and business impacts of IT operations automation, with the findings highlighting how it can lead to better productivity, reduce employee burnout and improve security outcomes.

The survey gathers insights from 110 Australian-based IT professionals who have influence or decision-making authority over IT hardware and/or IT solutions and have visibility into or involvement with the delivery of their organisation's endpoint management and security program.

Automation’s impact on security and risk

The mountain of human error that IT teams are continuously managing is unsustainable. As threats continue to rise, there will be less and less time to fix errors manually and an insurmountable security debt, exposing organisations to significant risk with the threat of both financial and reputational damage.

By not proactively implementing processes and technologies to reduce rates of human error, IT teams are not only wasting resources, but they are also leaving themselves more vulnerable to attacks.

Automation plays a key role in reducing human error, remediating vulnerabilities in a timely manner and reducing overall security risk.

Too much time spent fixing human errors can take critical resources away from completing strategic work and impact an organisation’s overall productivity. Unfortunately, this is what’s happening in IT teams across Australia, with many spending the equivalent of an entire month fixing human errors.
